D'Addario Primitivo Puglia Prete Brigante 2023

D’Addario Prete Brigante 2023 is a full-bodied Primitivo from Puglia’s Salento, shaped by ripe fruit and measured French oak ageing. Made in the heart of Primitivo country, it offers a generous, polished expression of the grape and the region’s distinctive character.

Tasting Notes
Deep ruby in colour with violet reflections, it opens with aromas of wild berries and dried figs, joined by hints of cinnamon, liquorice and vanilla. The palate is rich and generous, with velvety tannins and a long finish marked by elegant notes of coffee and cocoa.

Production
The Primitivo grapes come from vineyards around Sava and areas between the provinces of Brindisi and Taranto. Iron-oxide-rich soils over limestone help preserve freshness while encouraging ripe, concentrated fruit. The wine is made with pronounced fruit extraction and matured in medium-toasted French oak barrels, which help shape the tannins and integrate its spicy notes.

Food & Serving
Serve at 14–16°C, ideally after decanting for about an hour. It pairs well with roasted or braised meats, beef and pork stews, and mature cheeses with honey; dark chocolate makes a fitting finish. The wine is described as having ageing potential of up to 15 years.
