Description
Cocchi Storico Vermouth di Torino is a benchmark Italian vermouth that captures the refined heritage of Piedmont and the elegance of the historic Vermouth di Torino style. Recreated from Giulio Cocchi’s original recipe for the house’s 120th anniversary, it has become a reference point for bartenders and vermouth lovers worldwide, often simply known as "Cocchi Torino."
Tasting Notes
In the glass, it shows the classic depth and warmth expected from a fine red vermouth, with a rich, inviting amber-toned hue. The nose is layered and expressive, offering notes of herbs, spices, citrus peel, and subtle caramel sweetness, with a distinctly aromatic Piedmontese character.
On the palate, it is smooth, balanced, and complex, combining gentle sweetness with a vibrant bitter-herbal backbone. The finish is long and nuanced, making it ideal both for sipping on its own and for classic cocktails. As a fortified and aromatized wine, it is best enjoyed fresh after opening, though it will hold well for a period if stored properly.
Production
Produced in Piedmont, the historic home of Vermouth di Torino, Cocchi Storico is made in tribute to the region’s royal and artisanal vermouth tradition. The style reflects the collective heritage of Piemonte, where the Savoy court helped elevate vermouth from a local specialty into a celebrated category. Its production follows Giulio Cocchi’s original formula, preserving the character that helped shape the modern premium vermouth revival.
Food & Serving
Serve chilled, ideally around 8-10°C, either neat, over ice, or as the foundation for classic cocktails such as the Negroni or Manhattan. It pairs beautifully with olives, salted nuts, charcuterie, soft cheeses, and tapas-style dishes. Decanting is not necessary.
Producer
Cocchi Giulio is one of Piedmont’s most respected names in vermouth and sparkling wine, known for preserving traditional craftsmanship while remaining highly relevant in modern cocktail culture. Founded by Giulio Cocchi, the house became an important ambassador for Vermouth di Torino and helped drive the international comeback of top-quality vermouth. Its Storico Vermouth di Torino remains one of its most iconic and influential creations.
