Description
Arterberry Maresh Pinot Noir Winemaker's Reserve 2019 is a beautifully expressive Oregon Pinot Noir from one of the state’s most respected and historic vineyards. Crafted with a philosophy of organic farming and minimal intervention, it lets the character of Dundee Hills speak with clarity, finesse, and a real sense of place.
Tasting Notes
In the glass, it shows a delicate light ruby color that hints at elegance rather than power. The nose is inviting and layered, with sweet red berries like cherry and raspberry, lifted floral notes, and subtle touches of smoke and spice.
The palate is silky and precise, with bright fruit at the core and additional nuances of red pepper, earthy cloth-like tones, herbs, and a fine mineral streak that adds structure and definition. Gentle smoky accents and restrained oak help frame the wine without overwhelming it. While already highly enjoyable, it has the balance and purity to develop beautifully over the next several years.
Production
Sourced from one of Oregon’s oldest and most acclaimed vineyards in Dundee Hills, the wine reflects a cool-climate terroir known for its volcanic soils and excellent conditions for Pinot Noir. Jim Maresh works organically and with a hands-off approach, allowing the vineyard to shape the wine naturally, while vinification is kept restrained with only around 10% new oak to preserve freshness and terroir expression.
Food & Serving
This Pinot Noir is an excellent match for roasted duck, salmon, mushroom risotto, grilled chicken, or game birds, where its acidity and silky texture can shine. Serve slightly chilled at around 14–16°C, and consider a short decant of 20–30 minutes if you want the aromatics to open up further.
Producer
Arterberry Maresh is one of Oregon’s benchmark Pinot Noir producers, deeply associated with Dundee Hills and a tradition of thoughtful, low-intervention winemaking. Led by Jim Maresh, the estate is known for organic farming, restrained use of new oak, and wines that have earned a strong reputation for purity, finesse, and site expression.
