Tasting Notes
Deep, intense ruby in the glass, it opens with aromas of blackberry and red blueberry, joined by violet, graphite, cinnamon and mineral notes. The palate is structured yet velvety, with concentrated fruit and elegant, fine-grained tannins. Its careful élevage and firm structure suggest good potential to develop gracefully with further cellaring.

Production
Campo di Tenaglia is a west-facing parcel near Sarteano, around 550 metres above sea level, where vines more than 25 years old grow in well-drained sandy soils with calcareous deposits. High planting density and very low yields help concentrate the fruit; fermentation takes place in stainless-steel tanks for around 12 days. The wine then spends eight months in new French oak barrels, followed by eleven months in concrete tanks. The grapes are vinified separately to preserve the character of the single vineyard.

Serve with grilled or roasted red meat, game, or mature cheeses. A serving temperature of 16–18°C should bring out its fruit and savoury detail. Consider decanting for about an hour before serving to allow the aromas to open.
