Schloss Johannisberg Riesling Trockenbeerenauslese Goldlack Goldkapsel 2011 is an exceptionally rare sweet wine from one of the Rheingau’s most historic estates. Produced only in outstanding vintages from intensely concentrated, botrytised grapes, its distinctive gold capsule reflects the wine’s exceptional quality and limited production. Schloss Johannisberg has played a defining role in the history of German Riesling, including the celebrated discovery of late-harvest wine in the 18th century.

Tasting Notes
The wine displays a radiant golden colour, indicative of its concentration and maturity. Its expressive bouquet reveals layers of ripe peach, apricot and mango, complemented by honeyed tones and the complex nuances associated with noble rot. On the palate, it is richly sweet and remarkably concentrated, with luscious ripe-fruit flavours, honey and a fine, balancing acidity that preserves freshness. The 2011 vintage offers impressive depth and a long, lingering finish. With its combination of sweetness and acidity, this Trockenbeerenauslese has excellent ageing potential and can develop gracefully for many years when stored properly.

Production
Made from Riesling grapes in the Rheingau, this Trockenbeerenauslese represents one of Germany’s highest Prädikat quality levels. The grapes are harvested selectively at an advanced stage of ripeness, typically after noble rot has concentrated their sugars and aromas. The resulting wine is produced in small quantities and carefully matured to preserve its remarkable balance between richness, sweetness and freshness.

Food & Serving
Serve well chilled at approximately 8–10°C. This luxurious Riesling is an excellent partner for fruit-based desserts, crème brûlée, pâtisserie and blue or washed-rind cheeses. It can also be enjoyed on its own as a refined finale to a special meal. Decanting is generally not necessary, although briefly opening the bottle before serving can allow its aromas to unfold.
