Description
Perrier-Jouët Belle Époque Rosé 2014 is a prestige-vintage Champagne celebrated for its elegant balance of floral finesse, vibrant red fruit and creamy texture. Its delicate copper-pink colour and iconic Belle Époque presentation reflect one of Champagne’s most recognisable cuvées, first introduced by Perrier-Jouët in the 1960s.
Tasting Notes
The wine presents a luminous rosé hue with subtle copper highlights and a fine, persistent mousse. On the nose, ripe redcurrant and chalk mingle with dried orange peel, hints of maple syrup and the first suggestions of truffle, creating an expressive, mature aromatic profile.
The palate is fresher and more energetic than the nose initially suggests, with concentrated tart red fruit, citrus peel and chalky minerality carried by exceptionally soft, creamy bubbles. A gently nutty finish adds depth and complexity. Already wonderfully approachable, this is a mature Champagne with further ageing potential for those who enjoy its evolution towards greater savoury and tertiary character.
Production
The 2014 blend brings together approximately 50% Pinot Noir from Mailly, Ambonnay and Aÿ, 45% Chardonnay from Cramant and Avize, and 5% Pinot Meunier from Dizy. The rosé colour is achieved with the addition of 11% red Pinot Noir, giving the wine its distinctive copper-pink appearance. The Champagne is finished with a dosage of 9 grams per litre; specific harvesting and cellar maturation details are not provided.
Food & Serving
Serve well chilled at approximately 8–10°C, preferably in a tulip-shaped Champagne glass to highlight its aromatic depth and creamy texture. It pairs beautifully with delicate yet flavourful dishes such as lobster, langoustine, roast poultry, tuna, salmon, duck with fruit, or aged Comté. Decanting is not usually necessary, although a short period in a Champagne-friendly decanter may help reveal the wine’s developing truffle, nutty and savoury nuances.
Producer
Founded in Épernay in 1811, Perrier-Jouët is one of Champagne’s historic houses and is particularly renowned for its elegant, Chardonnay-led style and floral finesse. The Belle Époque cuvée, launched with the 1964 vintage, has become the house’s flagship prestige Champagne, instantly recognisable by its anemone-decorated bottle. Perrier-Jouët remains closely associated with refined vintage Champagnes that combine delicacy, freshness and the ability to develop gracefully with age.
