Tasting Notes
In the glass, the wine shows a ruby-red color with a lightly brightened rim. The nose opens with dark berries and forest fruit, layered with Mediterranean herbs such as rosemary and oregano, plus hints of tobacco, earth, and leather. On the palate, it is firm and full-bodied yet well balanced, with savory spice, clear structure, and a refined sense of freshness from its hillside origin. The finish is persistent and dry, with the kind of backbone that suggests good aging potential over the next several years.

Production
Poggio Colombi comes from higher-altitude parcels in the Maremma that slope toward the sea, where the maritime influence helps preserve freshness in the grapes. The soils are deep, sandy-clay and rich in stones, providing excellent drainage and supporting even ripening. The grapes are hand-harvested at the end of September, then fermented and undergo malolactic fermentation before aging for 12 months in used barriques and a further six months in bottle.

Food & Serving
This wine pairs beautifully with grilled or roasted red meats, game, lamb, and richly seasoned dishes such as Tuscan ragù or mushroom-based pasta. It also works well with aged cheeses and herb-roasted vegetables. Serve at 16–18°C, and decanting for about 30–60 minutes is recommended to allow the aromatics and structure to open fully.
