Description
Milénico Dos Mundos Ribera del Duero Bio 2020 is an organic Tempranillo that captures the tension between tradition and modern finesse in one beautifully crafted bottle. Sourced from high-altitude vineyards in one of Spain’s most prestigious red wine regions, it offers depth, purity of fruit, and an elegant, polished structure. The name “Dos Mundos” (Two Worlds) hints at the meeting of old-vine heritage and contemporary, terroir-driven winemaking that defines Ribera del Duero today.
Tasting Notes
In the glass, Milénico Dos Mundos 2020 shows a deep, vibrant ruby colour with violet reflections, signalling both concentration and youthful energy. The nose is expressive and layered: ripe blackberries, dark cherries and plums are interwoven with notes of dried herbs, violets, graphite, and subtle spices like clove and sweet tobacco, supported by a discreet touch of well-integrated oak.
On the palate, the wine is full-bodied yet poised, with fine-grained tannins and a fresh, vertical acidity that gives it lift and length. Flavours of black cherry, mulberry and wild berries unfold alongside cocoa, licorice and a hint of smoky minerality typical of Ribera del Duero’s limestone-rich soils. The finish is long and persistent, with a savoury edge that begs for another sip. Enjoyable now with a short decant, it has the structure to evolve gracefully over the next 6–10 years, gaining complexity and softer texture with time in bottle.
Production
Dos Mundos Bio 2020 is crafted from organically farmed Tempranillo (locally known as Tinto Fino) grown in selected parcels along the Duero river, where poor, stony soils with limestone and clay, combined with significant diurnal temperature swings, produce wines of concentration and freshness. Grapes are typically hand-harvested at optimal ripeness, allowing careful selection in the vineyard and at the winery. After gentle destemming, fermentation takes place in temperature-controlled vessels to preserve aromatic purity and highlight the varietal character of Tempranillo. The wine is then aged in a judicious mix of oak (often predominantly French, with some possible American influence) for several months, allowing tannins to polish and flavours to knit together without overpowering the fruit, before being bottled with minimal intervention to retain its organic, terroir-driven identity.
Food & Serving
This Ribera del Duero is a natural companion to richly flavoured dishes: think grilled or roasted lamb, Iberian pork, beef ribeye, game birds, and slow-braised stews. It also pairs beautifully with aged Manchego, hard sheep’s cheeses, and dishes featuring roasted mushrooms, smoked paprika, or charred vegetables. Serve at 16–18°C (60–64°F) for optimal expression. A decant of 30–60 minutes is recommended in its youth to allow the aromatics to unfurl and the tannins to soften, especially if served with hearty, protein-rich cuisine.
Producer
Bodega y Viñedos Milénico is a quality-focused, boutique producer in Ribera del Duero, dedicated to expressing the region’s distinctive Tempranillo through low-yield vineyards and careful, largely hands-on work. While comparatively young next to some of the appellation’s historic estates, Milénico has quickly gained attention for its terroir-driven, often organically farmed wines that balance power with precision. By combining traditional practices—such as hand-harvesting and respectful oak aging—with a modern sensitivity to sustainability and vineyard health, the estate contributes to Ribera del Duero’s reputation as one of Spain’s most dynamic and premium red wine regions.
