Description
Louis Roederer Rosé Brut Vintage 2013 is a refined Champagne presented in a generous magnum with a gift box—an impressive choice for special occasions and extended celebrations. The vintage captures the compelling contrast between ripe fruit and the pronounced acidity that defines 2013, offering both immediate appeal and considerable cellaring potential. Its distinctive blend brings together Pinot Noir from Verzy and Chardonnay from Chouilly, close to the border of Cramant.
Tasting Notes
In the glass, this rosé Champagne shows a delicate salmon-pink hue and a fine, persistent bead. The aromas evolve continuously, revealing layers of ripe red berries, subtle citrus, floral nuances and the mineral character associated with the finest Côte des Blancs fruit.
On the palate, the wine is elegant yet structured, combining the generosity and depth of Pinot Noir with the saline freshness of Chouilly Chardonnay. Bright acidity gives the Champagne remarkable energy and length, while the refined mousse carries notes of red fruit, citrus and lightly savoury minerality. The 2013 vintage is well suited to further ageing, and should reward careful cellaring for many years.
Production
The wine is built around Pinot Noir from the chalk-rich village of Verzy, complemented by Chardonnay from Chouilly near Cramant. This combination creates a pleasing balance between ripe, expressive fruit and a distinctly saline, mineral freshness. Under Chef de Caves Jean-Baptiste Lécaillon, Louis Roederer has continued to increase the proportion of Pinot Noir, returning towards the style of blends used by the house in the 1840s. The Champagne has a dosage of 8.5 grams per litre.
Food & Serving
Serve well chilled at approximately 10–12°C. It is a versatile partner for salmon, tuna, shellfish, lobster and other delicate seafood, while its structure also suits roast poultry, veal and dishes featuring red berries or lightly spiced flavours. Decanting is not normally necessary, but opening the magnum a few minutes before serving—or pouring a small amount into the first glasses—can help the wine unfold and reveal its changing aromas.
Producer
Founded in 1833, Louis Roederer is one of Champagne’s most respected independent houses and remains closely associated with a precise, terroir-focused style. The house owns a significant portfolio of vineyards and is known for combining traditional craftsmanship with a detailed understanding of individual sites. Its prestige cuvée Cristal has given Louis Roederer international renown, while its vintage Champagnes demonstrate the same commitment to purity, balance and long-term development.
