Description

Girolamo Russo Etna Rosato 2025 is a still rosé made entirely from Nerello Mascalese, grown on Etna’s northern slopes. Its powder-pink hue, volcanic origins and refreshing, saline character set it apart from lighter, simply fruit-driven rosés.

Tasting Notes
A delicate powder-pink colour leads to aromas of cherry, strawberry and raspberry, with a fine hint of white pepper. The palate is lively and fresh, with Nerello Mascalese’s pronounced acidity balanced by a firm, savoury salinity and a persistent finish. No specific ageing window is provided.

Production
The grapes come from the San Lorenzo district on Etna’s northern slopes, where vineyards sit around 700 metres above sea level on mineral-rich, sandy volcanic soils. The organically farmed bush vines and trellised vines include specimens up to 80 years old, and low yields help concentrate the fruit. Grapes are hand-harvested in early October; fermentation is spontaneous, using naturally occurring yeasts, and the wine is aged for six months in stainless steel to preserve its freshness and aromatic clarity.

Food & Serving
Serve lightly chilled, around 10–12°C, with grilled prawns, seafood pasta, roasted vegetables or fresh cheeses. Its bright acidity and saline edge also suit charcuterie and dishes with Mediterranean herbs. Decanting is not necessary; a brief moment in the glass will allow the aromas to open.
