Description

Domaine Truchetet Auxey-Duresses Le Plain de Lugny “Vignoble de Pauline” 2023 is a refined Pinot Noir from a cool, limestone- and marl-rich single vineyard in Melin, within the Auxey-Duresses appellation. Crafted by Pauline Genot, Morgan Truchetet’s wife, it combines the clarity and freshness of its site with finely judged élevage, offering a distinctive expression of Burgundy’s Côte de Beaune heritage.

Tasting Notes
The wine displays a deep ruby-red colour. Its bouquet is complex and finely layered, revealing dark cherries alongside delicate floral notes, subtle spice and a gently mineral character. On the palate, it is structured yet elegant, with concentrated red and dark fruit, bright acidity and polished tannins providing definition and length. The restrained use of new oak adds discreet warmth without overshadowing the fruit or vineyard character. With its balance, freshness and underlying structure, the 2023 should develop gracefully over the next five to eight years, while already offering appealing depth and precision.

Production
The organically farmed Pinot Noir vines grow on the cool, calcareous and marl-rich soils of Le Plain de Lugny, a single vineyard near the village of Melin. The grapes were selectively hand-harvested and carefully sorted again at the winery before being completely destemmed. After several days of cold maceration, extraction was carried out gently through careful pumping-over rather than pigeage. The wine matured for approximately one year in barriques, with around 20% new oak, before resting in stainless steel tanks until bottling.

Food & Serving
Serve lightly cool, at approximately 14–16°C. This Burgundy Pinot Noir is an excellent match for roast chicken, duck, pork tenderloin, mushroom dishes and earthy vegetable preparations, while its freshness also complements grilled salmon or trout. Decanting is not essential for a young bottle, but 20–30 minutes in a carafe can help open its aromatic layers; older bottles are best handled gently and poured carefully.

Producer
Domaine Truchetet is a Burgundy estate associated with the Truchetet family and the village of Vosne-Romanée, with a focus on expressing individual vineyard sites through precise, site-conscious winemaking. This “Vignoble de Pauline” bottling represents Pauline Genot’s personal expression within the domaine, highlighting the elegance and freshness of Auxey-Duresses. The estate’s careful vineyard work, selective harvesting and restrained approach to oak allow the character of each appellation to remain at the centre of the wine.
