Description

Le Haut de la Butte is a single-vineyard Bourgueil made from Cabernet Franc grown among Domaine de la Butte’s highest-altitude vines. From a six-hectare site in the Loire, it combines the character of its limestone, clay and flint soils with a style shaped to preserve freshness and finesse.

Tasting Notes
When first opened, the wine can show a wild, animal-like edge; this settles with a little time in the glass, revealing dark, clear berry aromas of elderberry, blackberry and blueberry. Violet, liquorice and a subtle hint of red cabbage add nuance.

Production
The six-hectare Le Haut de la Butte vineyard sits at around 100 metres above sea level in the Bourgueil appellation. Cabernet Franc grows on limestone with clay and flint, and the wine is matured partly in new barriques, a measured use of oak intended to retain freshness and finesse. Food & Serving
