Domaine Chanzy’s Mercurey Clos Voyens 1er Cru Rouge 2022 is an elegant and highly aromatic Pinot Noir from one of the appellation’s distinguished Premier Cru sites. Produced from a little over one hectare of south-facing vines, Clos Voyens has held Premier Cru status since 1943 and delivers remarkable finesse and character at a more approachable price than many celebrated Côte de Beaune wines.

Tasting Notes
The wine displays a bright, inviting ruby-red colour. Its expressive bouquet combines strawberries and red cherries with floral nuances, liquorice, a subtle mineral hint of flint and gentle vanilla from oak ageing. On the palate, it is light, supple and graceful, with vibrant red fruit at the centre, polished texture and a refreshing acidity that brings balance and length. Already charming in its youth, the 2022 vintage can be enjoyed now for its fresh fruit and elegance. With careful cellaring, it should develop additional savoury and earthy complexity over the coming years.

Production
The grapes are carefully harvested and sorted by hand before pressing and fermentation. Vinification lasts approximately 10 days, after which the wine matures for 10 months in oak barrels before spending a further five months in stainless-steel tanks. The south-facing, elevated position of Clos Voyens helps produce ripe, fragrant fruit while retaining the freshness that defines this refined Mercurey Premier Cru.

Food & Serving
Serve lightly cool, around 14–16°C. This versatile Pinot Noir pairs beautifully with roast chicken, duck, pork tenderloin, veal, mushroom dishes and classic Burgundy preparations such as coq au vin. It can be enjoyed without decanting, although 20–30 minutes in a decanter may help open the aromas, particularly when served young.
