Dom Pérignon Vintage 2018 pairs the house’s celebrated prestige cuvée with a striking Damien Hirst design: a deep-blue pattern of repeated shields inspired by his Kaleidoscope works. The wine is also notable as the first Dom Pérignon vintage made under cellar master Vincent Chaperon, following Richard Geoffroy.
Tasting Notes
The warm, sunny 2018 vintage gives this Champagne a generous profile, with aromas of ripe citrus, peach and yellow fruit joined by white flowers, brioche and delicate toasted notes. On the palate, it is creamy and concentrated, balanced by a lively line of acidity and an elegant mousse, with a long, precise finish.
Its concentration and freshness give it the structure to develop further in the cellar. James Suckling awarded the vintage 99 points.
Production
Made in Champagne from Chardonnay and Pinot Noir, Dom Pérignon 2018 reflects the character of a warm, sunny vintage. Vincent Chaperon brings the year’s grapes and parcels together through assemblage to create the finished cuvée. Specific vineyard, harvesting and vinification details are not provided.
Food & Serving
Serve well chilled, around 8–10°C, with seafood, scallops, fine shellfish or roast poultry; its brioche and toasted notes also suit aged hard cheeses. Pouring straight from the bottle is ideal for preserving the Champagne’s lively mousse; a brief rest in the glass can help reveal its aromas.
Producer
Dom Pérignon is the prestige Champagne of Moët & Chandon, a house founded in 1743 and one of the region’s best-known producers. The cuvée is made only in selected vintage years, and the 2018 marks Vincent Chaperon’s first vintage as cellar master. The Damien Hirst edition continues Dom Pérignon’s collaborations with artists and designers, bringing a distinctive collectible presentation to the vintage.
