Description

Colgin IX Estate Syrah 2021 is a full-bodied California red, distinguished by an expressive mix of floral and herbal aromas, dark fruit and savoury, iron-like notes. It is a rich, velvety wine with a long finish, made from fully destemmed grapes and matured in French oak barrels from Burgundy cooperages.

Tasting Notes
The nose brings together floral and herbal tones with notes reminiscent of rust, iron and blood, layered over black cherry and plum. The palate is full, rich and velvety, carrying those dark-fruit and savoury impressions through to a long finish.

Production
The grapes were fully destemmed and the wine was matured in pièces—small French oak barrels—from Burgundy cooperages including Damy, François Frères and Ermitage. Details about the vineyard site, harvest methods and vinification beyond destemming are not available.

Food & Serving
Pair its richness and savoury, peppery character with grilled or roasted lamb, beef or game, or with earthy dishes featuring mushrooms. Serve at around 16–18°C; a brief decant can help the wine open up before serving.
