Ceritas Trout Gulch Vineyard Chardonnay 2023 comes from the cool, elevated slopes of California’s Santa Cruz Mountains, where marine-influenced soils help shape a wine of remarkable freshness and mineral precision. Its combination of concentrated fruit, vibrant acidity and restrained oak makes it a refined expression of both Chardonnay and its distinctive coastal terroir.

Tasting Notes
The wine is pale gold in colour with delicate green reflections. On the nose, aromas of citrus, green apple and white flowers are joined by subtle toasted nut notes and a gentle suggestion of sea air. The palate is crisp and energetic, with clean acidity, elegant fruit and a distinctly mineral character. A long, refined finish brings excellent balance and persistence. While approachable in its youth, the wine’s acidity and structure should allow it to develop additional complexity with careful cellaring over the coming years.

Production
The grapes are sourced from Trout Gulch Vineyard, where sandy soils and marine deposits contribute freshness, concentration and a pronounced mineral character. Whole-cluster pressing is followed by fermentation in neutral French oak barrels, with a shorter period of ageing in stainless steel to preserve the wine’s natural freshness and terroir expression. Moderate oak influence adds texture and complexity without overpowering the fruit.

Food & Serving
Serve lightly chilled at approximately 10–12°C. This Chardonnay is an excellent match for delicate fish, shellfish, grilled poultry and dishes featuring fresh vegetables, as well as lighter cream-based preparations. It can be enjoyed immediately and generally does not require decanting, although a brief airing in the glass will allow its floral and mineral nuances to emerge.
