Description

Camossi’s 2018 Franciacorta Blanc de Blancs Extra Brut Riserva is made entirely from Chardonnay, offering a focused expression of the grape through the traditional method. Its fine, persistent bubbles, extended lees ageing and exceptionally dry style set it apart as a distinctive vintage Franciacorta.

Tasting Notes
The wine shows fine, persistent bubbles. Aromas of ripe fruit are complemented by inviting notes of bread crust. On the palate, it is fresh, elegant and distinctly dry, with a notably long finish. The 92 months spent on the lees bring added aromatic complexity and depth while preserving the wine’s fresh, fruit-led character. It is ready to enjoy now; further ageing potential is not specified.

Production
The Chardonnay comes from Camossi vineyards in Erbusco, Paratico and Provaglio d’Iseo, in Franciacorta. The vines grow in morainic soils containing clay and sand, which contribute to the clear, direct style of the wine. It is produced using Camossi’s Solo Uva approach, relying on the grapes’ natural sugars without external additions, and undergoes its second fermentation by the traditional method before 92 months of lees ageing. Harvesting details are not provided.

Food & Serving
Enjoy it as an aperitif or pair it with shellfish and mature cheeses. Serve well chilled, around 6–8°C, to highlight its freshness and fine bubbles. Decanting is generally unnecessary for a sparkling wine of this style.
