Description
Château Latour 2005 is one of the great names of Pauillac, offering the power, precision, and longevity that have made this First Growth legendary. From an exceptional vintage in Bordeaux, it combines depth and structure with remarkable elegance, making it a benchmark bottle for serious collectors.
Tasting Notes
In the glass, it shows a dense, deep garnet color with impressive concentration. The nose is layered and refined, with classic Pauillac notes of blackcurrant, cedar, graphite, tobacco leaf, and subtle hints of spice and earthy truffle.
On the palate, the wine is full-bodied and tightly structured, delivering dark cassis, black cherry, and refined oak framed by firm yet polished tannins. It has exceptional balance and a very long finish, with the concentration and backbone to age beautifully for decades.
Production
Château Latour is located in the southern part of Pauillac, on Bordeaux’s Left Bank, where gravel-rich soils and a maritime climate help produce wines of power and finesse. The estate is known for meticulous vineyard management and selective harvesting to ensure only the best fruit is used. Vinification is carried out with great precision, typically involving parcel-by-parcel fermentation and aging in French oak to preserve structure, purity, and complexity.
Food & Serving
This wine pairs beautifully with premium dishes such as roast lamb, beef fillet, venison, duck breast, or richly flavored mushroom preparations. Serve at around 16–18°C, and decant for several hours if drinking young to allow the wine to खुल? No — to allow the aromas and tannins to open fully.
Producer
Château Latour is one of the historic First Growth estates of Bordeaux and a flagship of Pauillac. With a reputation built over centuries, it is admired for producing some of the most powerful and long-lived wines in the world, and 2005 is widely regarded as one of its standout modern vintages.
