Description

Château Latour is one of the most celebrated names in Bordeaux, and the 2001 vintage offers a refined example of Pauillac class and structure. As a Premier Grand Cru Classé, it combines power, precision, and longevity in a way that has made the estate legendary among collectors.

Tasting Notes
In the glass, the wine typically shows a deep garnet core with the first signs of maturity at the rim. The nose is layered and restrained, with blackcurrant, cedar, graphite, tobacco, and hints of earth, spice, and leather emerging with air. The palate is structured and concentrated, yet beautifully poised, with firm tannins, fresh acidity, and a long, mineral-driven finish. While already showing some tertiary complexity, it still has the backbone to evolve gracefully for years to come, especially in a proper cellar.

Production
Produced in Pauillac on Bordeaux’s Left Bank, Château Latour benefits from its exceptional terroir near the Gironde estuary, where well-drained gravel soils help Cabernet Sauvignon ripen with depth and precision. The estate is known for meticulous vineyard management, selective harvesting, and careful parcel-by-parcel vinification to preserve purity and structure.

Food & Serving
This wine pairs beautifully with classic dishes such as roast lamb, beef fillet, duck breast, game, or truffle-based dishes. Serve at around 16–18°C, and decanting is recommended if drinking now to allow the bouquet and texture to open fully.

Producer
Château Latour has a long and distinguished history in Bordeaux and is ranked as a Premier Grand Cru Classé from the 1855 Classification. Renowned for producing some of the most ageworthy wines in the region, the estate is a benchmark for Pauillac and has earned a global reputation for excellence across generations.
