Description

Domaine Berthaut-Gerbet’s Vosne-Romanée 2023 is a refined Burgundy Pinot Noir from one of the Côte de Nuits’ most celebrated villages. Known for combining Vosne-Romanée’s natural elegance with the domaine’s precise, modern approach, this wine offers an appealing balance of fragrant fruit, silky texture and understated depth.

Tasting Notes
The wine is expected to show a bright ruby colour, with the aromatic finesse typical of Vosne-Romanée. On the nose, look for red cherry, raspberry and wild strawberry alongside floral nuances, subtle spice and delicate earthy tones. The palate is medium-bodied and supple, with finely integrated tannins, fresh acidity and a gently savoury finish. The 2023 vintage is likely to offer immediate charm while retaining the structure to develop further in bottle over the next several years, particularly with careful cellaring.

Production
Vosne-Romanée’s limestone- and marl-rich soils, interwoven with clay, provide an excellent foundation for Pinot Noir, encouraging both perfume and depth. The grapes are harvested by hand and carefully selected before fermentation and maturation, although the precise vinification and élevage details for this cuvée have not been provided. The domaine’s style generally focuses on preserving site expression, purity of fruit and a graceful tannic structure.

Food & Serving
Serve at approximately 14–16°C after allowing the bottle to come gently up to temperature. This versatile Pinot Noir pairs beautifully with roast chicken, duck, pork tenderloin, mushroom dishes, coq au vin and delicate game. Decanting is not essential for the 2023 vintage, but 30–45 minutes in a decanter can help open its aromatics when enjoyed young; older bottles are best handled gently and poured carefully.

Producer
Domaine Berthaut-Gerbet is based in Vosne-Romanée, at the heart of Burgundy’s Côte de Nuits, and has built a strong reputation for expressive, elegant wines from some of the region’s most sought-after appellations. Under the guidance of Amélie Berthaut, the domaine has become known for combining respect for Burgundy’s traditional identity with a fresh, precise and terroir-focused style. Its wines are valued for their finesse, aromatic clarity and ability to convey the character of each vineyard.

A huge yes to this wine, a singing wine from Amélie Berthaut.I always take everything I can get from this producer on allocation. Unfortunately, the quantities are very small, but wow.

Beautiful Vosne-Romanée in a lovely elegant and classic style with plenty of "Vosne Spice". Wonderfully precise and elegant, can be enjoyed now, but would also benefit from a few years in the cellar.
