Description

Zeni Amarone della Valpolicella Vigne Alte 2019 is a rich, characterful expression of one of Italy’s most iconic wine styles. Produced in the Valpolicella area of Veneto, it reflects the traditional Amarone method, where carefully selected grapes are dried before fermentation to create depth, concentration, and a signature velvety texture.

Tasting Notes
In the glass, it typically shows a deep ruby to garnet color with impressive intensity. The nose is layered and inviting, often bringing together dried cherry, plum, cocoa, sweet spice, and hints of tobacco or leather. On the palate, Amarone is known for its full body, generous alcohol, and dense flavors of ripe dark fruit, raisin, and spice balanced by a firm structure. Zeni’s Vigne Alte 2019 should offer a long, warming finish and has the concentration to age gracefully for several years, developing even more complexity over time.

Production
This wine comes from the Valpolicella zone in Veneto, where the combination of hillside vineyards, good drainage, and a favorable climate supports ripe, healthy fruit. The grapes for Amarone are traditionally harvested by hand and then dried in well-ventilated rooms to concentrate sugars, aromas, and tannins before vinification. After a slow fermentation and aging period, the result is a powerful red wine with remarkable richness and structure.

Food & Serving
Best served slightly below room temperature, around 16–18°C, and ideally decanted before serving to help open its aromas. It pairs beautifully with braised meats, game, aged cheeses, and rich dishes such as osso buco, mushroom risotto, or slow-cooked beef.

Producer
Zeni is a respected family producer from the Valpolicella area with a long-standing connection to Veneto’s winemaking tradition. The estate is known for producing wines that combine regional authenticity with consistent quality, helping showcase the depth and elegance of classic Italian styles such as Amarone.
