Zenato, San Benedetto Lugana 2025 White

Zenato’s San Benedetto Lugana is a classic expression of one of Veneto’s most loved white wines, made entirely from 100% Trebbiano di Lugana (also known locally as Turbiana). Fresh, elegant and distinctly Mediterranean in style, it reflects the winery’s long-standing commitment to the shores of Lake Garda and the land where Sergio Zenato first planted vines more than 60 years ago.

Tasting Notes
In the glass, it shows a brilliant, pale yellow color with excellent clarity. The nose is clean and inviting, with notes of melon, citrus and a refined mineral edge that gives the wine real definition. On the palate, it is fresh and fruit-driven, opening with white peach, apple and pear, followed by a rounded, medium-bodied texture and a pleasant, lingering finish. Its balance of freshness and structure suggests good short- to medium-term aging potential, though it is also very enjoyable young for its bright, vibrant character.

Production
The grapes come from vineyards in the Lugana zone on the southern shores of Lake Garda, stretching from Peschiera to Desenzano, where the lake’s moderating influence and mineral-rich soils help preserve freshness and aromatic purity. Zenato farms with a strong focus on Turbiana at the S. Cristina estate in San Benedetto, and the wine is crafted to highlight the grape’s natural tension, fruit and mineral backbone through careful vinification.

Food & Serving
This is a versatile white wine that pairs beautifully with lake fish, shellfish, risotto, light pasta dishes, sushi and grilled vegetables. Serve chilled at around 8–10°C. Decanting is not necessary, although a brief moment in the glass can help the aromas open up.

Zenato is a family-owned winery with more than 60 years of history, founded by Sergio Zenato, whose first plantings in San Benedetto helped establish the estate’s reputation in Lugana. Today, his children Alberto and Nadia continue the family vision across the S. Cristina and Costalunga estates, producing a respected range of wines from elegant Lugana whites to powerful Amarone reds. Zenato is widely regarded as one of the benchmark producers in Veneto.
