Zenato Cresasso Corvina Veronese 2018 is a beautifully structured red that showcases Corvina at its most expressive and concentrated. Crafted from carefully selected fruit and shaped by traditional drying and oak ageing, it reflects both the power and elegance that have made Veneto one of Italy’s most celebrated wine regions.

Tasting Notes
In the glass, it shows a deep ruby-red colour with impressive depth and brightness. The nose opens with ripe red and dark fruit—think cherry, blackcurrant, and subtle plum—followed by layers of pepper, incense, and the distinctive aromatic signature of Corvina. On the palate, Cresasso is full-bodied and firm, with a generous alcohol warmth balanced by freshness and structure. The dried-fruit influence adds richness and density, while the French oak ageing lends spice, polish, and a touch of savoury complexity. This is a wine with excellent ageing potential, and it should develop even more nuance over the next several years.

Production
Cresasso is made from pure Corvina Veronese sourced through a careful selection of the best grapes. The harvest is done by hand in two stages: an initial pick in the second half of September, followed by a drying period of about two months on plateaux before fermentation. After a 20-day fermentation, the wine is matured for 24 months in French oak barrels. The remaining Corvina grapes are left on the vine until late October, then fermented separately in stainless steel to preserve freshness and varietal character.

Food & Serving
This is an excellent match for grilled meats, game, salami, and mature cheeses. Serve at around 16–18°C to bring out its aromatic complexity and balanced structure. Decanting for 1–2 hours is recommended, especially in its youth, to allow the wine to open fully.
