Description
Wiston Estate Rosé NV is a vibrant and refined English sparkling rosé crafted in the chalky South Downs of England. Made by traditional method and aged extensively, it offers the poise and complexity you’d expect from top Champagne, with a distinctly English freshness. This non-vintage cuvée blends multiple harvests and reserve wines dating back to 2009, bringing depth and character to every glass.
Tasting Notes
In the glass, Wiston Estate Rosé NV shows a delicate, shimmering salmon-pink hue with a fine and persistent mousse. The nose is aromatic and expressive, bursting with notes of rhubarb, wild strawberries, raspberries and redcurrants, intertwined with hints of wild rose, citrus zest and a subtle sherbet lift.
On the palate, it is both brisk and silky, with pinpoint bubbles and a lively, mouth-watering acidity that keeps the wine feeling incredibly pure and precise. Flavours of red berry coulis, pink grapefruit, rhubarb and a touch of cream play across the tongue, supported by a fine, chalky backbone. The 8 g/L dosage is beautifully judged, lending just enough roundness without dulling the freshness. Enjoy it now for its energy and fruit vibrancy, or cellar for 3–5 years to develop more brioche, pastry and savoury complexity.
Production
Wiston Estate Rosé NV is sourced from chalk-rich vineyards on the South Downs, whose cool climate and mineral soils closely mirror those of Champagne, giving naturally high acidity and a distinct mineral elegance. The grapes – 40% Pinot Noir, 30% Chardonnay and 30% Pinot Meunier – are all hand-harvested in late autumn to ensure optimal ripeness and selection. Each variety is pressed as whole clusters and fermented separately in stainless steel to preserve clarity and purity of fruit, before resting on the lees for eight months. A portion of the estate’s reserve wines, reaching back to 2009, is then blended in alongside a small addition of still red wine to provide colour, depth and aromatic complexity. The wine undergoes a slow second fermentation in bottle, followed by three years of aging on the lees, before disgorgement and a final dosage of 8 g/L, resulting in a finely textured and impeccably balanced sparkling rosé.
Food & Serving
This rosé is a natural choice for picnics, long lunches and al fresco dining. It pairs beautifully with charcuterie boards, cured meats, smoked salmon, and soft or semi-hard cheeses, as well as classic British desserts such as strawberries and cream, summer pudding or Eton mess. For savoury dishes, try it with grilled prawns, sushi, roast chicken with herbs or beetroot and goat’s cheese salad. Serve well chilled at around 8–10°C; a quick 10–15 minutes in an ice bucket is ideal. Decanting is not necessary, but pouring into proper tulip-shaped sparkling wine glasses will show off both the aromas and the fine mousse.

Wiston Estate is a historic family-owned estate in the South Downs of West Sussex, with roots dating back to 1743 and a modern winemaking story that began when the Goring family planted vines in 2006. Benefiting from pure chalk soils and a cool maritime climate, Wiston has become one of the benchmark producers in the English sparkling wine revolution, demonstrating just how world-class this region can be. Crafted in the traditional method and long aged on lees, Wiston’s wines have garnered significant critical acclaim and numerous awards, helping to cement the South Downs as one of England’s premier sparkling wine terroirs.
