Weingut Lenhardt’s Mehringer Zellerberg Riesling Trocken 2023 is a finely tuned Mosel Riesling that brings together precision, freshness, and serious site character. Tasting Notes
In the glass, it shows a bright, pale straw color with a lively, shimmering sheen. The nose is expressive and refined, with notes of pear, orange, and citrus, lifted by a clear stony minerality that gives the wine extra definition and depth. The palate is powerful yet elegant, with ripe fruit unfolding against a firm mineral backbone. It feels focused and energetic, with the dry style keeping everything crisp and precise. This is a Riesling with the structure to develop further in bottle over the next few years, though it is already highly enjoyable now for its tension and clarity.

Production
The Mehringer Zellerberg vineyard lies on a steep southwest-facing slope in the Mosel, where schist and iron-rich subsoil provide ideal conditions for Riesling. The extreme gradient means the vines are worked and harvested by hand, much as they were a century ago, allowing the Lenhardt family to preserve the integrity of the fruit and the character of the site.

Food & Serving
This is a superb food wine, especially with aromatic and mildly spicy dishes from across Asia, the Middle East, or Latin America. It also works beautifully with seafood, roast chicken, glazed pork, or dishes with ginger, citrus, and fresh herbs. Serve well chilled at around 8–10°C, and decanting is not necessary, though a short period in the glass can help it open further.
