Weingut Knipser’s Laumersheim Steinbuckel Riesling 2022 is a precise, dry German white wine from one of the estate’s most distinguished vineyard sites. Tasting Notes
The wine presents a bright, pale-golden appearance. Its aromas are fresh and refined, with notes of citrus, green apple, white peach and subtle mineral tones. On the palate, crisp acidity gives the wine energy and length, while ripe fruit and a clean, dry finish create a balanced and elegant expression of Riesling. Although approachable when young, this Riesling benefits from around three to four years of bottle age, when its fruit becomes more integrated and its mineral complexity more pronounced. It should continue to develop positively beyond this point if stored in cool, dark conditions.

Production
The grapes come from Laumersheim in the northern Vorderpfalz, an area known for its expressive vineyard sites and limestone-influenced soils. The wine is matured in large oak casks of 600 and 1,500 litres, allowing gentle development while preserving Riesling’s natural freshness and aromatic clarity. Specific harvesting methods and detailed vinification information have not been provided.

Food & Serving
Serve lightly chilled at approximately 9–11°C. This Riesling is a natural match for grilled fish, roasted freshwater fish and tender veal, where its fresh acidity can cut through richer textures without overpowering delicate flavours. Decanting is generally not necessary, although a brief period of aeration in the glass can help reveal additional aromatic depth, particularly with a bottle that has had some time to mature.

Founded in 1876, Weingut Knipser is a family-run estate based in Laumersheim, between Grünstadt and Bad Dürkheim in the northern Vorderpfalz. The winery farms approximately 75 hectares across Laumersheim, Großkarlbach and Dirmstein. Heinz Knipser was one of the region’s early adopters of bottling estate wines, beginning in 1948, while the current owners, Volker and Werner Knipser, introduced barrique vinification in the mid-1980s and expanded the estate’s focus on both classic regional and international grape varieties.
