Tasting Notes
Deep ruby in colour, the wine opens with fragrant aromas of red cherries, raspberries and wild strawberries, complemented by subtle floral notes, fine spice and a gentle earthy character. On the palate, it is elegant yet structured, with vibrant acidity, silky tannins and a precise mineral freshness. Layers of ripe red fruit and delicate savoury nuances lead to a long, balanced finish. With its combination of fruit, structure and freshness, the 2020 vintage should develop gracefully over the medium to long term.

Production
The grapes come from the Kirschgarten vineyard in Laumersheim, in Germany’s Pfalz region, a site known for producing expressive and age-worthy Pinot Noir. The area’s warm, dry climate helps the grapes reach excellent ripeness, while the vineyard soils contribute freshness and mineral definition. The wine is made with careful selection of the fruit and gentle vinification designed to preserve the purity of the Spätburgunder, followed by maturation to integrate its fruit, tannins and oak influences.

Food & Serving
A versatile partner for food, this Spätburgunder works particularly well with roast poultry, duck, veal, pork tenderloin, mushroom dishes and earthy seasonal vegetables. It is also excellent with mildly flavoured game and soft, savoury cheeses. Serve lightly cool at approximately 14–16°C. Decanting is not essential, but 30–60 minutes in a decanter can help reveal the wine’s aromatic complexity, especially when enjoyed young.
