Weingut Knipser’s Laumersheim Johannishof Riesling 2024 is a bright, refreshing white wine from Germany’s Pfalz region, showcasing the variety’s lively citrus character and subtle mineral expression. Produced by a respected family estate with roots dating back to 1876, it is made in stainless steel to preserve its freshness, fragrance and youthful energy.

Tasting Notes
Pale and clear in appearance, this Riesling opens with refined aromas of lime and grapefruit, complemented by delicate citrus notes. On the palate, it is light and refreshing, with a vibrant mouthfeel, crisp citrus flavours and a subtle mineral finish that adds balance and precision. Enjoyable in its youth for its freshness and aromatic clarity, the wine can also develop additional complexity over approximately three to five years in bottle when stored in suitable conditions.

Production
The grapes come from vineyards around Laumersheim in the northern Pfalz, an area situated between Grünstadt and Bad Dürkheim. Weingut Knipser farms vineyards across Laumersheim, Großkarlbach and Dirmstein, with a total vineyard area of around 75 hectares. The wine is fermented in stainless-steel tanks, a gentle approach that helps retain the Riesling’s fresh fruit, citrus aromas and lively character.

Food & Serving
Serve well chilled at around 8–10°C. Its crisp, light-bodied profile makes it a natural match for fresh seafood, sushi, grilled fish, shellfish, goat’s cheese and salads with citrus-based dressings. The wine is best enjoyed without decanting; simply open shortly before serving to allow its delicate aromas to emerge.

Producer
Weingut Knipser has been a family-run winery in Laumersheim since 1876 and is now led by Volker and Werner Knipser. Heinz Knipser was among the region’s early producers to bottle wine himself, beginning in 1948. From the mid-1980s, the current generation introduced barrique winemaking, increased the estate’s focus on red wines and placed renewed emphasis on classic regional and international grape varieties, helping establish Knipser as a notable name in the Pfalz.
