Description
Villa Maria’s Private Bin Sauvignon Blanc is a classic Marlborough white that showcases the region’s world-famous style: vivid, aromatic, and unmistakably fresh. Since the first New Zealand Sauvignon Blanc was released in 1979, Marlborough has become the benchmark for expressive, high-energy wines like this one.
Tasting Notes
Pale straw in the glass, it opens with bright aromas of citrus, passionfruit, fresh herbs, and cut grass. The palate is crisp and lively, with concentrated tropical fruit, zesty lime, and a clean mineral edge that keeps the wine focused and refreshing. Best enjoyed young for maximum vibrancy, though it will hold its freshness over the next couple of years.
Production
Sourced from Marlborough, where cool maritime conditions, long daylight hours, and pronounced diurnal shifts help preserve acidity and build aromatic intensity. The fruit is harvested to capture freshness at peak ripeness and typically vinified in stainless steel to preserve the pure, varietal character that defines New Zealand Sauvignon Blanc.
Food & Serving
Ideal with fresh seafood, oysters, goat’s cheese, green salads, sushi, and light chicken dishes. Serve well chilled at 8–10°C, and decanting is not necessary—simply open and enjoy its youthful aromatic expression.
Producer
Villa Maria is one of New Zealand’s most respected wineries and a major name in the country’s rise to international prominence. Founded in 1961 by Sir George Fistonich, the producer has built a strong reputation for quality, sustainability, and consistently expressive wines across its range.
