Villa della Torre, Valpolicella Classico 2020

Villa della Torre Valpolicella Classico 2020 combines the freshness and elegance of classic Valpolicella with the distinctive character of one of Italy’s most historic wine estates. Its polished structure, balanced fruit and refined oak influence make it an approachable yet thoughtfully crafted red wine. Villa della Torre itself is a remarkable Renaissance property, designed between the late 1440s and 1562 by Giulio Romano and Michele Sanmicheli.

Tasting Notes
The wine shows a medium-intense ruby-red colour in the glass. On the nose, aromas of ripe raspberries and red berries are complemented by subtle notes of vanilla and spice, adding warmth and complexity without overpowering the fruit. On the palate, it is harmonious and well balanced, with a firm structure, well-integrated tannins and a pleasantly soft, fresh character. The finish is persistent and refreshing, making the wine enjoyable now while allowing it to develop additional savoury and spicy nuances over the next few years when properly stored.

Production
Fermentation takes place over approximately 20 days in stainless-steel tanks at a controlled temperature, preserving the wine’s fresh fruit character and aromatic clarity. This is followed by malolactic fermentation, which helps round the palate and soften the wine’s natural acidity. The wine is then matured in barriques. Specific vineyard details and harvesting methods are not provided.

Food & Serving
Serve at approximately 16–18°C after allowing the bottle to breathe briefly. A short decant of 20–30 minutes can help open the wine, although extended decanting is not necessary. Its combination of red-fruit freshness, gentle spice and supple tannins pairs well with pasta with tomato- or meat-based sauces, risotto, pizza, grilled poultry, roasted pork and medium-aged cheeses.
