Villa della Torre, Lugana Peaks & Valleys Selva del Vescovo 2024 White

Villa della Torre’s Selva del Vescovo 2024 is a refined Lugana white wine marked by saline freshness, pronounced minerality and a graceful herbal character. Part of the Peaks & Valleys selection, it reflects the distinctive landscapes and terroirs surrounding Lake Garda, with a label inspired by the waters of the lake, the tower of San Martino della Battaglia and the vineyard’s ecclesiastical heritage.

Tasting Notes
The wine shows a clear yellow colour with subtle golden reflections. Its bouquet opens with delicate white flowers and aromatic herbs, led by a distinctive note of fresh sage. On the palate, vibrant acidity combines with an impressive saline quality and intense mineral character. The finish is long, refreshing and finely structured, making the wine particularly expressive when young while offering the balance to develop additional complexity over the short to medium term.

Production
The Peaks & Valleys wines are selected from vineyards chosen for their distinctive combination of soil, climate, position and elevation, including limestone, volcanic and morainic influences across the range. The Lugana is matured for six months in concrete tanks, allowing the mineral and savoury character of the wine to remain prominent, followed by a further two months of bottle ageing before release.

Food & Serving
Serve well chilled at approximately 8–10°C. Its saline freshness and mineral structure make it an excellent partner for lake fish, shellfish, seafood salads, grilled prawns and delicate white-fleshed fish, while its herbal notes also complement fresh pasta with green herbs or light vegetable dishes. Decanting is not necessary, although allowing the wine a few minutes in the glass will help its floral and aromatic profile open up.

Villa della Torre is the producer behind this expressive Lugana from the Peaks & Valleys range, a collection built around the relationship between wine, landscape and terroir. The Lugana label pays tribute to the area near San Martino della Battaglia, depicting its monumental tower and the traditional saturno hat as references to the ecclesiastical institution that leases the vineyard. The light blue colour evokes the waters of Lake Garda, placing the wine firmly within the cultural and geographical identity of the region.
