Villa della Torre, Amarone della Valpolicella 2019

Villa della Torre Amarone della Valpolicella 2019 is a rich and polished Italian red, combining the generous character of Amarone with the refined style associated with one of Veneto’s most historic estates. Produced at Villa della Torre, an architectural jewel designed between the late 1440s and 1562, this vintage offers ripe cherry fruit, integrated tannins and a long, warming finish.

Tasting Notes
Deep ruby red in the glass, the wine opens with inviting aromas of ripe cherries, complemented by subtle notes of vanilla and sweet spices from its oak maturation. On the palate, it is full-bodied yet well balanced, with concentrated fruit, a supple, well-integrated tannic structure and a persistent finish. The wine is enjoyable now, but its structure and Amarone richness should allow it to develop further complexity with careful cellaring over the coming years.

Production
The grapes were destemmed and crushed between December and January, followed by a period of cold maceration before fermentation. Fermentation took place at a controlled temperature and was followed by malolactic fermentation. The wine was then matured for 18 months in wooden casks and oak tonneaux, helping to integrate its fruit, spice and tannic character.

Food & Serving
A natural match for hearty meat dishes, roasted or braised poultry and mature cheeses. Serve slightly below room temperature, around 16–18°C, to balance the wine’s richness and alcohol. Decanting for approximately 30–60 minutes is recommended, particularly when serving the wine young, to help open its aromas and soften the texture.

Villa della Torre is a historic estate whose architecture was created between the late 1440s and 1562 by Giulio Romano and Michele Sanmicheli. Marilisa Allegrini acquired the property in 2008, and the estate is now home to a wine and art resort as well as the Villa della Torre winery, a project guided by her daughters, Carlotta and Caterina. The estate combines Veneto’s wine heritage with a distinctive cultural and architectural setting.
