Vilarissa Valley Grande Reserva 2022 is a classic red blend from Portugal’s dramatic Douro Valley, combining Touriga Franca and Touriga Nacional. Known historically for Port production, the Douro is now equally respected for structured, age-worthy table wines, with its terraced vineyards recognised as a UNESCO World Heritage landscape. This is a robust, oak-matured wine offering ripe fruit and inviting vanilla notes.

Tasting Notes
In the glass, the wine presents a deep, generous colour typical of a full-bodied Douro red. The nose is filled with aromas of ripe dark fruit, complemented by sweet vanilla and subtle oak-derived spice from its time in barrel. On the palate, it is rich and robust, with mature fruit flavours, a rounded texture and a warming, well-integrated finish. The wine is approachable now, while its structure and Grande Reserva style should allow it to develop further with careful cellaring.

Production
Vilarissa Valley Grande Reserva is produced from the classic Douro varieties Touriga Franca and Touriga Nacional, grapes also traditionally associated with the region’s Port wines. The vineyards are planted on the steep, spectacular terraces that line the Douro River. Following vinification, the wine undergoes thorough maturation in oak, adding depth, roundness and characteristic vanilla nuances.

Food & Serving
Its full body and ripe fruit make this wine a natural partner for grilled or roasted red meats, beef stew, game and richly seasoned Portuguese dishes. It also pairs well with mature hard cheeses. Serve lightly cool, at approximately 16–18°C. Decanting for 30–60 minutes is recommended to open the wine and soften its structured profile, particularly when enjoying a younger bottle.
