Vigneti del Salento’s Vigne Vecchie Leggenda Primitivo di Manduria is a bold and characterful red from Puglia, made from very old Primitivo vines that bring extra depth, concentration, and personality to the glass. With fruit harvested by hand from vines at least 75 years old and matured in oak, it captures the richness and warmth that have made Primitivo di Manduria one of southern Italy’s most admired wine styles.

Tasting Notes
In the glass, it shows an intense ruby-red colour. The nose is layered and expressive, with aromas of ripe fruit, plums, and cherry jam, lifted by hints of tobacco and gentle spice. On the palate, this is a full-bodied wine with a soft, rich texture and fine tannins. Flavours of cocoa, coffee, and vanilla add complexity and a rounded finish, with enough structure to suggest good short- to medium-term aging potential.

Production
The wine comes from old Primitivo vines in Manduria, where the southern Puglian climate and mature vineyards help produce naturally concentrated fruit. The grapes are hand-harvested to preserve quality and select the best bunches, and the wine is then aged in oak barrels, which adds spice, vanilla, and complexity to the ripe fruit profile.

Food & Serving
This is an excellent match for lamb, game dishes, and aged cheeses. Serve it at around 16–18°C to bring out its full aromas and supple texture, and consider decanting for 30–60 minutes if you want to soften the tannins and open up the wine’s more savoury notes.
