Vietti Barolo Ravera 2021 is a striking single-vineyard Barolo that captures both the power and precision for which this site is known. Sourced from one of the cooler, higher-altitude cru sites in the appellation, it combines impressive structure with a distinctly lifted, mineral-driven character. Ravera has long been admired in Barolo for its capacity to deliver depth, freshness, and remarkable consistency, even as growing conditions evolve.

Tasting Notes
In the glass, it shows the classic concentration of Barolo with a poised, vibrant profile. The aromatic layer is especially nuanced, opening with bergamot, citrus peel, herbs, mineral notes, and a subtle saline edge, all supported by a tightly woven core of fruit. On the palate, the wine is compact and focused, with impressive freshness and finely etched tannins that give it both grip and elegance. Mandarin peel and kumquat linger on the finish, adding brightness to the wine’s dark, savory complexity. This is a Barolo built for aging, with the structure and balance to evolve beautifully over many years.

Production
Ravera sits at around 400 to 440 meters above sea level, with an open exposure that looks toward the Alps and benefits from cooler air currents and excellent light. These conditions help preserve freshness while allowing the Nebbiolo fruit to ripen slowly and fully. In 2021, the grapes were harvested later than Vietti’s other sites, on October 11, and the wine was made in a classic Vietti style with more than 20 days of skin contact to build depth, texture, and aromatic complexity.

Food & Serving
This Barolo pairs beautifully with rich Piedmontese dishes such as braised beef, tajarin with truffle, mushroom risotto, or game birds. It also works well with aged cheeses and slow-cooked lamb. Serve at around 16–18°C, and consider decanting for 1–2 hours if opening in its youth to help reveal its full aromatic range and soften the tannins.
