Vietti Barbaresco Roncaglie 2021 is a beautifully poised expression of Barbaresco, sourced from the sloping Roncaglie vineyard where sandier soils lend extra perfume, finesse, and elegance. Formerly released as Roncaglie Masseria, this cuvée captures the graceful side of Piemonte’s classic Nebbiolo tradition, with a floral profile and a long, silky finish that speaks to a top vintage.

Tasting Notes
In the glass, it shows the refined translucence typical of Barbaresco, with a delicate yet vibrant core. The nose is highly aromatic, unfolding with fragrant florals, wild rose, and subtle red berry notes, framed by the savory complexity that Nebbiolo is known for. On the palate, the wine is linear, elegant, and finely textured, with fresh acidity, polished tannins, and a long, silky finish. Thanks to the structure and balance of the 2021 vintage, it should age gracefully for many years, gaining depth and nuance over time.

Production
Fruit comes from the gently sloping Roncaglie vineyard in Barbaresco, where sandier soils help shape a more lifted, floral, and delicate style. In the excellent 2021 vintage, Vietti extended skin maceration to 25 days, allowing for greater aromatic and structural extraction. The wine was then matured for 24 months in large oak casks, a traditional approach that preserves purity of fruit while adding polish and complexity.

Food & Serving
This is a superb match for truffle risotto, tajarin with meat ragù, roast duck, veal, mushrooms, or aged cheeses such as Parmigiano Reggiano and Pecorino. Serve at 16–18°C, and consider decanting for 1–2 hours when young to help the wine open up and reveal its full aromatic range.
