Vérité La Muse 2013

Vérité La Muse 2013 is one of California’s most celebrated Bordeaux-inspired reds, crafted from hillside vineyards in Alexander Valley, Chalk Hill, Knights Valley and Bennett Valley. Made by renowned Bordelais winemaker Pierre Seillan, it reflects the finesse and depth of a great Right Bank-style wine, and this vintage earned a perfect 100-point score from Robert Parker.

Tasting Notes
Deep, polished ruby in the glass, the 2013 La Muse opens with layered aromas of mulberry, black cherry, licorice and truffle, followed by a distinctly savory, almost earthy complexity. On the palate it is full-bodied and remarkably concentrated, with thick, juicy fruit, remarkable purity and a long, resonant finish that lingers for over a minute. Despite its generosity, the wine still has firm tannins and plenty of structure, giving it both immediate appeal and extraordinary aging potential. While it can already impress, it is likely to benefit from several more years in bottle and should continue to evolve gracefully for decades.

Production
The 2013 blend is 89% Merlot, 8% Cabernet Franc and 3% Malbec, sourced from high-elevation hillside vineyards across Alexander Valley, Chalk Hill, Knights Valley and Bennett Valley. These sites contribute freshness, definition and concentration, while the vintage’s careful fruit selection and Bordeaux-style vinification give La Muse its signature texture, depth and balance.

Food & Serving
This wine pairs beautifully with classic dishes such as roast lamb, beef tenderloin, duck breast, game birds and truffle-based pasta. Serve at around 16–18°C, and consider decanting for 1–2 hours to allow the aromatics and structure to fully open up.
