Vega Sicilia Único 2015 is one of Spain’s most iconic red wines, produced at the legendary Vega Sicilia estate in Ribera del Duero. Combining the depth of Tinto Fino with the structure of Cabernet Sauvignon, it is renowned for its remarkable balance, long maturation and exceptional ability to evolve in bottle. The Único cuvée has been a benchmark for fine Spanish wine since the early 20th century.

Tasting Notes
In the glass, the 2015 Único shows a deep ruby colour with garnet reflections. Its complex nose gradually reveals ripe black fruit, plum, cassis and cherry alongside cedar, tobacco, spice, cocoa and subtle balsamic notes. With air, layers of dried herbs, leather and finely integrated oak emerge. The palate is powerful yet remarkably composed, combining concentrated fruit with fresh acidity, polished tannins and a long, savoury finish. Notes of dark berries, liquorice, graphite and sweet spice persist well after the final sip. Although approachable with decanting, this is a wine with outstanding ageing potential and should continue developing gracefully for several decades under suitable cellar conditions.

Production
The vineyards lie on the elevated, continental soils of Ribera del Duero, where hot, dry summers and cold winters help produce grapes with concentration, freshness and firm natural structure. Único is traditionally based on old-vine Tinto Fino, complemented by Cabernet Sauvignon, with the exact blend varying according to the vintage. Following careful selection and fermentation, the wine undergoes an exceptionally long maturation in oak and bottle before release, allowing its fruit, tannins and wood character to integrate with unusual harmony.

Food & Serving
Serve slightly below room temperature, around 16–18°C. Decant for two to three hours when opening the bottle, particularly in its youth, while older bottles should be handled carefully and decanted shortly before serving to separate any sediment without losing delicate aromas. Its depth and structure make it an excellent partner for roast lamb, grilled or braised beef, venison, suckling pig, mature hard cheeses and richly flavoured mushroom dishes.
