Vaudoisey-Creusefond Auxey-Duresses Blanc 2022 is a characterful white Burgundy that captures the appeal of small-scale Chardonnay from one of the Côte de Beaune’s lesser-known villages. Sourced from tiny parcels and produced in very limited quantities, it offers both depth and precision, with a distinctive mineral edge that reflects its terroir.

Tasting Notes
The wine shows a luminous pale-gold colour in the glass. On the nose, it opens with layered aromas of white pepper, citrus peel, lime blossom, vanilla, a subtle salty note, and a faint smoky nuance. The palate is generous and textured, yet retains a graceful freshness that keeps everything in balance. Flavours echo the aromatics, with ripe citrus and savory mineral tones leading to a long, mouthwatering finish reminiscent of salt crystals. It can be enjoyed now, but will also reward a few years of bottle age as its aromas gain complexity and roundness.

Production
This Chardonnay comes from micro-plots in La Macabrée and Les Fosses, covering just under 0.62 hectares in total. The vines were planted at different times, with some dating back to 1985 and others renewed in 2003 and 2004, contributing to the wine’s combination of maturity and energy. The small parcels and Burgundy’s limestone-rich terroir help shape the wine’s pronounced minerality and refined structure. Production is necessarily limited, making this a highly artisanal expression of Auxey-Duresses Blanc.

This wine pairs beautifully with fish, delicate shellfish, or a fresh seafood salad, where its mineral character and generous texture can shine. Serve at 10–12°C to best showcase its aromatic detail and freshness; decanting is not essential, though a short airing can help open the wine if served in its youth.
