Van Volxem Volz Riesling GG 2021 is a standout dry Riesling from one of the Mosel’s most respected estates, crafted from top vineyard fruit and bottled as a Großes Gewächs, Germany’s highest classification for dry wines. It combines precision, depth, and the classic mineral drive that has made Saar and Mosel Riesling famous for generations.

Tasting Notes
In the glass, it shows a bright golden hue that hints at ripeness and concentration. The nose is expressive and layered, with ripe peach, citrus zest, and a distinct mineral edge. On the palate, it is full-bodied and complex, balancing vibrant acidity with a subtle, rounded fruit character. The finish is long, clean, and saline, with lingering citrus and stony notes that speak to its pedigree. This is a wine with excellent aging potential. While already highly enjoyable now, it should develop additional complexity, texture, and tertiary nuances over the next several years.

Production
Produced by Van Volxem in the Mosel-Saar-Ruwer region, this Riesling comes from carefully selected vineyard sites known for their steep slopes and mineral-rich soils. The estate focuses on low-yield, high-quality fruit from prime parcels, with harvesting done by hand to preserve grape integrity. Vinification is carried out with a minimalist approach to showcase purity, terroir expression, and the natural structure of the wine.

Food & Serving
Ideal with fish, shellfish, and light salads, this Riesling also works beautifully with sushi, roast chicken, and delicately spiced Asian dishes. Serve chilled at around 8–10°C. Decanting is not essential, but a short period in the glass can help the wine open up if enjoyed young.
