Valenciso, Rioja Tempranillo Blanco Barrica 2025 White

Valenciso Rioja Tempranillo Blanco Barrica 2025 is a distinctive white Rioja from one of Rioja Alta’s most respected boutique producers. Founded in 1998 by Valentín and Enciso, Valenciso takes its name from the combination of their first names and is known for elegant, terroir-driven wines that combine traditional Rioja identity with refined winemaking.

Tasting Notes
Bright and expressive, this oak-aged Tempranillo Blanco is expected to offer a poised balance between fresh white-fruit character and the subtle complexity contributed by the barrel. The nose should develop layers of orchard fruit, citrus, floral nuances and gently toasted notes, while the palate is likely to be rounded and textured, with lively acidity and a delicate, savoury finish. Its barrel ageing and bâtonnage should give the wine added depth and a creamy mouthfeel. It can be enjoyed young for its freshness, while careful cellaring should allow further development over the next few years.

Production
The wine is produced in Rioja Alta, in and around Ollauri, just 4 km from Haro. Valenciso integrates organic and biodynamic practices in the vineyards and uses gentle pressing to preserve the character of the grapes. Fermentation takes place in Eastern European oak barrels, followed by ageing in the same barrels with weekly bâtonnage until mid-April, helping to build texture and complexity while retaining freshness.

Food & Serving
Serve chilled at approximately 10–12°C. Its combination of freshness, texture and measured oak makes it a natural partner for grilled or roasted fish, shellfish, poultry, creamy risottos and mature cheeses. Decanting is not essential, but opening the bottle 15–20 minutes before serving can help the wine’s aromas unfold; a short decant may be useful when serving it after additional bottle age.

Valenciso was established in 1998 in Ollauri by Valentín and Enciso, who together bring more than 33 years of experience in Rioja. Situated in the heart of Rioja Alta, the winery focuses on expressing the elegant and delicate character of northern Tempranillo through premium, individual wines.
