Valenciso Rioja 10 Graciano 2019 is an expressive Rioja red made from the region’s naturally low-yielding and highly aromatic Graciano grape. Produced by one of Rioja Alta’s most distinctive modern wineries, it combines the variety’s vibrant freshness and dark-fruited character with Valenciso’s signature focus on elegance, precision and restrained oak.

Tasting Notes
In the glass, the wine shows a deep ruby colour with purple highlights. The nose is fragrant and lifted, offering aromas of blackberries, black cherries and blueberries, accompanied by violet, spice and subtle herbal notes. On the palate, Graciano’s natural acidity brings energy and freshness, while fine tannins provide structure. Dark fruit flavours are complemented by peppery spice and a discreet, savoury oak character. The 2019 vintage should develop gracefully in bottle over the coming years, while already offering excellent concentration and balance.

Production
Valenciso works with organic and biodynamic principles in the vineyards, encouraging healthy soils and balanced vine growth. The wine is fermented in concrete tanks, a method that supports a pure expression of the fruit while maintaining freshness and texture. It is then matured exclusively in Eastern European oak, reflecting the estate’s distinctive approach to Rioja élevage. Food & Serving
Serve at approximately 16–18°C after allowing the wine to come slightly below room temperature. It pairs beautifully with roast lamb, grilled or braised beef, game, chorizo and other richly seasoned dishes, as well as mature cheeses. Decanting for around 30–60 minutes can help open the wine’s aromatic profile, particularly when enjoyed young; older bottles may benefit from careful decanting to remove any sediment.

Valenciso was founded in 1998 in Ollauri, just four kilometres from Haro in the heart of Rioja Alta, by Valentín and Enciso, whose first names inspired the winery’s name. Together, they bring more than 33 years of experience in Rioja and have built a reputation for producing exclusive, elegant wines with a strong sense of place. Valenciso is particularly recognised for its commitment to organic and biodynamic vineyard practices, concrete fermentation and exclusive use of Eastern European oak, expressing a refined and distinctive interpretation of Rioja.
