Vajra G.D. Barbera d'Alba is a vibrant, characterful Barbera that captures the soul of Piedmont in a glass. Made with great care by the Vajra family, it combines purity of fruit, bright natural acidity, and a refined sense of place that has made Barbera one of the region’s most beloved reds.

Tasting Notes
Deep purple in the glass, this wine opens with fragrant notes of violet, blueberry, plum, and a touch of sweet spice and fresh thyme. On the palate it is dense yet graceful, with layers of ripe blackberry and cranberry framed by lively acidity and a long, expressive finish of liquorice and anise. The overall impression is one of freshness and depth rather than heaviness, making it both immediately appealing and well suited to a short period of bottle aging, where its texture and complexity can continue to evolve.

Production
Produced in the hills of Vergne, at the highest point of the Barolo commune, this Barbera comes from organically farmed vineyards that have been cultivated for more than 50 years. The grapes are vinified separately, with fermentation lasting an average of 15–20 days at temperatures below 30°C to preserve freshness, aromatic precision, and the natural vibrancy of the variety.

Food & Serving
This is a versatile food wine, ideal with pasta in rich tomato-based sauces, roasted poultry, grilled sausages, mushroom dishes, and aged cheeses. Serve slightly cool, around 16–18°C, and decanting is not essential, though a short airing can help the aromatics open up beautifully.
