Ugo Lequio Barbaresco Gallina is a classic, site-driven Nebbiolo from one of Barbaresco’s most celebrated cru vineyards. Sourced from the heart of Gallina, a historic hillside once owned by the Riccardi Candiani counts, it combines depth, precision, and the refined structure that has made Barbaresco one of Italy’s most admired wines.

Tasting Notes
In the glass, it shows a ruby-red color with garnet reflections, hinting at the elegance and evolution to come. The bouquet is enveloping and complex, with spicy notes of licorice, black pepper, leather, and rose unfolding over time. On the palate, it is full-bodied and firm, yet beautifully harmonious and balanced, with the savory grip and layered depth typical of great Nebbiolo. This is a wine with excellent aging potential, and it will continue to gain complexity and finesse with time in bottle.

Production
This Barbaresco DOCG comes from the Gallina vineyard in Piedmont, a terroir prized for giving Nebbiolo wines both structure and fragrance. The grapes are fermented in stainless steel at controlled temperatures for 15 to 18 days to preserve purity and aromatic detail, then the wine is aged for 20 months in 25 hl Slavonian oak casks followed by 6 months in bottle before release.

Food & Serving
A natural match for rich Piedmontese dishes such as braised beef, risotto with mushrooms, tajarin with truffle, and roasted game. Serve at around 16–18°C, and consider decanting for 1 to 2 hours, especially if opening the bottle young, to allow the aromatics and tannins to fully open.
