In the glass, Trotanoy 2020 shows an opaque, garnet-black core with a deep purple rim, signaling its youth and intensity. It’s an aromatic profile that feels both decadent and finely layered. On the palate, this is full-bodied, rich, and muscular, driven by a concentrated core of sun-kissed black and blue fruits wrapped in considerable tannic structure. Production
Trotanoy lies on Pomerol’s famed plateau in Bordeaux, on a mosaic of deep clay and gravel soils that naturally limit yields and give Merlot its hallmark depth and power. The vineyard is planted predominantly to Merlot with a smaller portion of Cabernet Franc, and meticulous work in the vines ensures only perfectly ripe, healthy fruit is harvested—typically by hand, in small lots, to preserve berry integrity. In the cellar, vinification is traditional yet precise: plot-by-plot fermentations, careful extraction tailored to the vintage’s power, and élevage in high-quality French oak barrels (a significant portion new) to sculpt the wine’s formidable structure without overwhelming its terroir-driven character.

Food & Serving
Given its concentration and structure, Trotanoy 2020 is best matched with richly flavored dishes such as roast lamb with herbs, beef ribeye, duck breast, game birds, or slow-braised short ribs. It also pairs beautifully with truffle dishes, wild mushroom ragouts, and aged hard cheeses. Serve at 16–18°C (60–64°F); in its youth, decanting for 2–3 hours is strongly recommended to allow the dense fruit and tannins to open. As the wine matures, a gentle, shorter decant mainly to remove sediment will be sufficient.
