Description
Trento Giulio Ferrari Riserva Rosé 2010 is one of Ferrari’s most prestigious sparkling wines, combining the elegance of a rosé with the depth gained from more than a decade of maturation on the lees. Produced in the classic Trento DOC method from high-altitude Trentino grapes, it reflects Giulio Ferrari’s pioneering ambition to create Italian sparkling wine capable of standing alongside the finest Champagnes. The 2010 vintage is a refined expression of Ferrari’s long-standing commitment to patience, precision and quality.
Tasting Notes
The wine shows a delicate salmon-pink to copper hue, with a fine, persistent mousse. Its mature bouquet brings together red berries, wild strawberries and rose petals with more developed notes of brioche, toasted almonds and subtle spice.
On the palate, it is dry, layered and beautifully balanced, combining creamy texture with lively acidity and a pronounced mineral freshness. Fine bubbles carry flavours of red fruit, citrus, pastry and gentle savoury nuances through a long, elegant finish. Thanks to its extended lees ageing and quality vintage, it is drinking beautifully now and should continue to develop additional complexity for several years when properly stored.
Production
The grapes are sourced from high-altitude vineyards in Trentino, where cool mountain conditions help preserve freshness and create wines of energy and precision. Ferrari follows sustainable vineyard practices, and the grapes are carefully harvested by hand before undergoing the traditional metodo classico process, including a second fermentation in bottle. Giulio Ferrari Riserva Rosé is matured for at least 10 years on its lees, allowing the wine to develop its fine mousse, creamy texture and complex bouquet.
Food & Serving
An elegant partner for refined dishes, this rosé pairs particularly well with salmon, tuna, lobster, prawns and other shellfish, as well as roast poultry, veal and dishes featuring mushrooms. Its freshness also complements charcuterie and mild, mature cheeses. Serve well chilled at approximately 8–10°C. Decanting is generally unnecessary, although carefully pouring the wine into a chilled carafe can be considered if gentle aeration is desired; take care to preserve its delicate bubbles.
Producer
The Ferrari story began in 1902, when Giulio Ferrari set out to create a Trentino sparkling wine that could rival the great Champagnes of France. A pioneer of Chardonnay cultivation in Italy, he produced only a small number of highly selected bottles with an uncompromising focus on quality. Today, the third generation of the Lunelli family continues his vision, balancing tradition, innovation and respect for the Trentino landscape. Every Ferrari wine is a Trento DOC made exclusively from grapes grown in the region, and the house is widely regarded as one of Italy’s leading ambassadors for traditional-method sparkling wine.
