Production
The Pietrarizzo vineyard lies on the northern flank of Mount Etna, at high altitude on steep, terraced slopes rich in decomposed lava, ash and basalt. This volcanic terroir, combined with marked day–night temperature swings, produces grapes of notable aromatic intensity and freshness. Nerello Mascalese is harvested by hand to ensure careful selection of bunches, often from older vines with naturally low yields. In the cellar, fermentation takes place in temperature-controlled vessels to preserve purity of fruit and highlight the mineral profile. The wine is then matured in a combination of large wooden casks and/or neutral barrels, allowing gentle oxygenation and tannin refinement without overwhelming the delicate, terroir-driven character of the wine.
