Description
Tommasi Amarone della Valpolicella Classico 2021 is a classic expression of one of Italy’s most celebrated red wines, offering depth, richness, and unmistakable Valpolicella character. Crafted from the traditional blend of Corvina, Rondinella, Corvinone, and Oseleta, it reflects both the heritage of Amarone and Tommasi’s long-standing reputation for polished, cellar-worthy wines.
Tasting Notes
In the glass, it typically shows a deep ruby to garnet color with impressive concentration. The nose is layered with ripe dark cherries, plum, dried figs, cocoa, sweet spice, and subtle balsamic and herbal nuances.
On the palate, expect full body and a velvety texture, with concentrated black fruit, dried fruit, licorice, and warm spice supported by firm structure and balanced acidity. Amarone of this style is built for aging, and the 2021 vintage should continue to evolve beautifully over many years, gaining complexity and tertiary notes with time.
Production
Sourced from the Valpolicella Classico zone in Veneto, the wine draws on hillside vineyards where the soils and exposure help deliver ripe, expressive fruit with natural freshness. The grapes are traditionally harvested by hand and selected carefully before undergoing the appassimento process, where they dry to concentrate flavor and sugar. Fermentation and maturation are then carried out to preserve the wine’s depth, structure, and elegance.
Food & Serving
This Amarone pairs beautifully with braised beef, game, rich mushroom dishes, aged cheeses, and slow-cooked meats. It is best served at around 16–18°C, and decanting for at least an hour is recommended to let the wine open fully and reveal its layered aromatics.
Producer
Tommasi is one of Veneto’s most respected family-owned wine producers, with a history dating back to 1902. Over generations, the estate has become closely associated with high-quality Valpolicella and Amarone, earning a strong reputation for consistency, regional authenticity, and craftsmanship across its wines.
