Description

Terre di San Venanzio – Valdobbiadene Prosecco Superiore Extra Dry is a refined expression of modern Prosecco, far removed from its former simple-sparkling image. Made from 100% Glera grown on the steep hillsides of Valdobbiadene, it combines purity of fruit with a delicate, persistent mousse that feels both festive and carefully crafted. Awarded 89 points by Falstaff, this wine showcases just how elegant and complex top Prosecco Superiore can be.

Tasting Notes
In the glass, this Prosecco shows a bright silver hue with a straw‑yellow shimmer and a fine, steady perlage. The nose is fresh and inviting, layered with ripe pear, acacia honey and a generous wave of tropical fruit—think lychee, kiwi and banana—supported by hints of white peach and ripe apple. On the palate, it is round and expressive, with a harmoniously integrated mousse that feels creamy yet lively. The fruit character is rich and refined: flavors of ripe apple and pear unfold across the palate, joined by subtle floral and honeyed nuances. Despite its Extra Dry dosage, the balance between fruit sweetness and vibrant acidity keeps the wine refreshing and moreish. Best enjoyed within 2–3 years of release to capture its most vibrant aromatics and crisp structure.

Production
This Prosecco Superiore originates from the hills of Valdobbiadene in Veneto, where Glera vines are planted on steep, well‑drained slopes with a mix of clay and limestone soils that enhance aromatic intensity and freshness. The challenging topography often demands manual harvesting, allowing careful selection of healthy, perfectly ripe grapes. After a gentle pressing, the must is fermented at controlled cool temperatures to preserve delicate fruit and floral aromas. The second fermentation takes place in pressurized tanks (Charmat/Martinotti method), a technique particularly suited to Glera as it locks in primary fruit character and yields a fine, persistent perlage before the wine is lightly filtered and bottled under pressure.

Food & Serving
This Extra Dry Prosecco is a natural choice as an aperitif, but it also shines at the table with light and subtly aromatic dishes. Pair it with antipasti, seafood crudo, sushi, fresh goat cheese, prosciutto with melon, or delicate vegetable tempura. It also works beautifully with lightly spiced Asian cuisine, such as Thai salads or mild curries, where its fruit and gentle sweetness soften spice and salt. Serve well‑chilled at 6–8 °C. Decanting is not recommended; instead, open just before serving to preserve its vibrant bubbles and aromatic freshness.

Producer
Terre di San Venanzio Fortunato is a quality‑driven producer based in the heart of Valdobbiadene, one of the most prestigious zones for Prosecco Superiore in northern Italy. Named after San Venanzio, the area’s patron saint, the estate focuses on expressing the unique hillside terroir of the region through carefully farmed Glera and meticulous sparkling‑wine production. Over the years, the winery has gained recognition in Italy and beyond for Proseccos that combine precision, elegance and generous fruit, with strong showings in guides and competitions such as Falstaff’s Prosecco Trophy—helping to cement Valdobbiadene’s reputation as the benchmark for premium Prosecco.
