Description

Terre di San Venanzio – Fortunato Valdobbiadene Prosecco Superiore Brut is a finely crafted sparkling wine from the steep hills of Valdobbiadene, the historic heartland of top-quality Prosecco. Made from 100% Glera, it combines purity of fruit with a refined, brisk freshness that makes it exceptionally versatile as both an aperitif and a food companion. Highly rated by Falstaff (90 points) and Merum, it stands out for its elegance, harmony and drinkability, offering a benchmark expression of Prosecco Superiore from Veneto.

Tasting Notes
In the glass, this Prosecco shows a very pale, almost white straw-yellow color with brilliant reflections and a fine, persistent mousse. The nose is fresh and inviting, opening with notes of crisp apple, ripe pear and banana, followed by delicate floral tones reminiscent of daisies and white blossoms. On the palate it is immediately appealing: smooth yet vibrant, with a lively acidity perfectly woven into the creamy texture of the bubbles. Flavors of green and yellow apple, juicy pear and a touch of citrus are supported by a clean mineral line, creating a sense of balance and harmony. The finish is medium in length, refreshing and extremely moreish, making it a sparkling wine that invites another glass. Best enjoyed young to capture its bright fruit and floral lift, it will drink beautifully over the next 1–2 years.

Production
The grapes for this Prosecco Superiore Brut come from hillside vineyards around Valdobbiadene in Veneto, where Glera thrives on well-drained, predominantly clay and limestone soils and benefits from a mild climate with good diurnal temperature swings. The slopes are often steep, so much of the work in the vineyard, including harvest, is done by hand to ensure careful selection of healthy, perfectly ripe grapes. After a gentle pressing, the base wine is fermented at controlled low temperatures in stainless steel to preserve the varietal aromas. The secondary fermentation takes place using the Charmat-Martinotti method in pressurized tanks, allowing the bubbles to form slowly and delicately, resulting in a fine perlage and a clean, fruit-driven style that highlights the terroir of Valdobbiadene.

Food & Serving
This Valdobbiadene Prosecco Superiore Brut is an excellent aperitif and pairs beautifully with light dishes such as fresh seafood (shrimp, scallops, steamed mussels), sushi, ceviche, and simple fish crudo. It also works well with salads, vegetable antipasti, mild cheeses, prosciutto and other delicate cured meats, as well as lightly spiced Asian cuisine. Serve well chilled at 6–8°C to highlight its crispness and fine mousse. Decanting is not necessary; simply open and pour, ideally in white wine or tulip-shaped sparkling glasses to concentrate the aromas and showcase the bubbles.
